Who We Are
Our mission is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence.
Every day, Family Promise of the Jersey Shore connects people who want to help with opportunities to make a difference. You don't need to donate thousands of dollars or hundreds of hours of service to make a difference. In fact, you can make a meaningful change for your neighbors in need with one hour of volunteer work or a single donation of clothing, food, or furniture. Won't you join us?

Together at Home Shelter Program
FPJS partners with community organizations and school districts at the Jersey Shore to provide shelter, meals, hospitality, and day to day essentials for local families with children who are experiencing homelessness. Our partnerships bridge local families in need with community members with a heart to serve. During the day, our Day Center, located in Manahawkin serves as a home base for families in the network. The Day Center provides families with: an address and phone number for potential employers to reach them; access to essential office equipment and supplies for job and housing searches; a kitchen with food to prepare their breakfast and lunches; and full bathroom and laundry facilities. In the evenings, on a weekly rotating basis, families spend the night at a host congregation or community space where dedicated volunteers provide a safe, comfortable, home-like place to sleep, eat a home cooked meal, do homework, socialize, and relax together. Families are provided with their own private bedroom.
Casting Lifelines Referral Program
Not sure where to turn? Every phone call coming into our Day Center, whether eligible for our Together At Home Shelter Program or not, is screened and matched with services and resources available locally in the community. A volunteer or staff is available to help cast you in the right direction.

Anchors to Stay Prevention Program

Prevention is our largest program. Keeping families in their homes prevents homelessness before it starts. Food, clothing, rental assistance, Family Promise's Prevention program works to provide wrap around care to get to the heart of the issue.

Diversion Program

No one plans to become homeless. Utilizing a Housing First approach, case management works with individuals to get them quickly into a more stable situation rather than needing shelter.
Arc of Visibility Graduate Program
The tremendous support families receive while they are in the program is foundational to the success of our families. Continuing those relationships after they graduate is important for families to experience long-term sustainable independence. Our Arc of Visibility Graduate Program provides graduates with continued essential support and an opportunity to build upon the life skills highlighted in our Illuminate to Success Curriculum. This program provides families a one on one relationship to help make lasting changes.

Illuminate to Success Curriculum
Illuminate to Success Curriculum gives families who experience homelessness with essential life skills needed to maintain self-sufficiency. We address three main content areas: Professional/Career Development, Personal Self-Management, and Interpersonal/Relationship Building Skills. A comprehensive, individualized plan is created to ensure training appropriately meets the unique needs of each family. Our Illuminate to Success curriculum provides training and supportive coaching services to families up to three times a week while families are in our Daymark Family Shelter Program.

Pets with a Promise

The Pets with a Promise program was developed to ensure that no family is faced with the awful dilemma of what to do with their pet(s) in the event they become homeless. The Pets with a Promise program is a remarkable partnership with PetSmart Charities and local foster families to provide boarding and veterinarian care for their beloved pet(s) while in the FPJS Daymark Family Shelter Program.
